If you are using modem for internet connection, you can optimize the speed by following trick.

click the start menu,

run

then type sysedit and ok.

open WIN.INI and go to the(port)section.

edit the port mode value to:COMx=921600,n,8,1,p

the modem port number

x=the modem port number

921600=maximum speed(bps)

n=non-parity

8=8 data bits

1= 1 stop bit

p= hardware flow control

If your pc is a dual core ,core duo, quadro, etc.

Do you know if it is using only one processor or all available processors to run the system?

a multi-core processor is a processing system composed of two or more independent cores.

Most of the Pc’s with multi cores are generally configured to use one  processor when bought, and by simply following these steps you can configure your Pc to use multi cores available.
